By now listeners certainly know that I have a sweet spot for musicians. I’ve had the good fortune to interview many local working musicians and singers, and there is typically one common denominator – they started playing and singing when they were young and just kept on working at it until they got their big break. This show features the four members of a local band called On Your Marks, a pop-punk/alternative band from Oceanport, NJ, who are working hard at making their music and waiting and hoping for their big break.
Meet the band: Alex Piraquive: Lead vox/Guitar; Matt Arnone: Drums; Freddie Koechlin: Bass/Backing vox; and John Bazley: Lead guitar/Backing vox. These high school students formed On Your Marks in December of 2009, and they have had gigs at various NJ venues such as the Marlboro Recreation Center in Marlboro, The Saint in Asbury Park, the Freehold VFW in Freehold, and Asbury Lanes in Asbury Park. Not bad, huh?
I’ll get to speak to the band and find out how they came together, what were their musical influences, and what are their future plans. Curious to know more about the band? Check them out on Facebook and go to their Band Page to listen to some tracks from their CD entitled The Starting Line. After the interview, please check out After Hours at Jersey Coastal Live for additional information.
