Hello, my name is Beth and I'm a Messie

I grew up in a home that was disorganized and cluttered, okay, and at times downright messy. When I first moved out, hard as I tried I could not keep my home in order. Over the years I tried many different strategies to organize my home, my kitchen, my junk drawer, my car...only to fail...UGH! I decided that, like other genetic predispositions, that I must be genetically predisposed to messiness.

In my late twenties I met a woman who made keeping her home organized - not PERFECT - look 'easy.' I decided I would try to learn from her...lo, and behold, I am now a reformed messy of many years.

As a military wife, who has moved seven times in five years, served as an ombudsman for four years, runs her own business and has a life...I need my life to be organized! Two people have had the greatest impact on my life in helping me to see that my old mantra, "I'm too busy to be organized' was faulty thinking. The reality is, "I'm too busy NOT to be organized."

This week's show brings an old friend and mentor in the area of organization - Sue McMillin. Sue is a professional organizer, she was a ground breaker in this field and has organized everything from multi-million dollar homes, to a kitchen pantry, to offices of corporate execs and even entire businesses. Sue brings humor and great insight in helping us understand the five easy steps to bringing order to our world.

Oh, by the way - she says we CAN organize our messy kids and that messy hubby, too! Don't miss this fun discussion that will set you free!

"Hello, my name is Beth and I'm a Messie"

I am a reformed 'messy'. Ok, I'm not exactly the twin of USA network's OCD Monk, but I now love and value being organized. As military spouses we are so busy! We have careers, jobs, school, children and homes to balance. An organized home is not a pipe-dream, it is essential and ACHIEVABLE! My special guest, professional organizer Sue McMillin, will help us bring organization to our home - and even our husbands and kids! Don't miss her humorous and successful tips to 'keep it together'!

Happy Anniversary - We're One Year Old!

This week Navy Homefront Talk! is one year old...can you believe it? One year ago this week my wild idea for a talk show for Navy spouses kicked off with wonderful support of BlogTalkRadio. It has been the most interesting year...from Dr Laura 'blowing me off' (all has been forgiven and worked out) to technical glitches to my 'blonde moments' - well, one year later we are still alive, broadcasting and looking forward to another year of great shows for Navy spouses.

I am grateful for BTR, for their support, for their belief in this show. I'm also grateful for my co-host Tammie and the latest addition, Susan from the east coast. I guess that we truly are coast-to-coast...LOL!

Jiminator is back this week to celebrate our anniversary - if you didn't listen to it live, you have to listen to the show...AND, if you listened live, listen to the podcast for the show after the show - it was even better that the live broadcast.

Our second year is off to a bang, we are lining up some great guests for the year...big names, great resources, even a comedian or two! Of course, the part I love best is the interaction with listeners...don't forget to post your comments on the show...don't forget to rate the shows so we can just work even harder to impress you our listener!

So...one year behind us and another year of even better guests and topics coming this year!

Now it's your turn...sound off, give us your feedback, what did you like, what did you hate, what do you want to hear? I'm all ears!

  • Original Air Date:

    Happy Anniversary Navy Homefront Talk!
