Nose tackles don’t grow on trees, just ask any NFL exec and they’ll be the first to tell you that finding a reliable one to anchor their defense is no easy task. Southern Illinois defensive tackle Kayon Swanson has four years of experience playing in the 3-4 defensive scheme, which nearly half of the NFL teams now employ. After earning some starts as a sophomore, Swanson went on to become known as one of the hardest working players on the team and was awarded the Lunch Pail Award for his blue-collar work ethic. He would later be named the co-defensive lineman team MVP as a junior and was selected Second-Team All Conference before his career was finished. In this edition of the NFL Draft Bible Player Spotlight Show, the Detroit native joins host Ric Serritella to discuss his preparation for the ‘draft season,’ some of the NFL teams who have made the trip to visit the Southern Illinois campus and we find out what exactly is a Saluki anyways.
