    Spencer Battiest is quickly becoming a national sensation in the world of music and entertainment. Spencer first started performing at the age of 4 when he traveled across the country singing gospel with his family. At the age of 14, he was chosen from 3000+ hopefuls to perform live in New York City on Broadway at the International Presentation of Performers (IPOP). Since then, he has been featured live on ESPN, EPSN2, HBO and Showtime. He has opened for major artists such as Aerosmith, Sting and The Police. The March 2008 issue of Rolling Stone touted his grand performance at London's Hyde Park before an astonishing crowd of over 100,000 music lovers with other high-profile performers including John Mayer, Sheryl Crow, Jason Mraz, The Bangles and Eric Clapton. He recently appeared for a three-day show at Hard Rock LIVE in Hollywood, FL featuring all original music. He is currently recording with top producers and collaborating with celebrity artists such as Ray J, eager to share his incredible talent as an entertainer. An inspiration to young people throughout the world, Spencer retains strong ties to his own Native people. He is a proud member of the Seminole Tribe of Florida, with whom he collaborates to promote Hard Rock internationally through commercials and interviews. Spencer, along with supermodel Petra Nomcova and R&B artist Sean Kingston, also participates as a global ambassador for charity through "Global Angels"—a charity founded by the mother of Natasha Beddingfield.

    Born in San Antonio, Texas, award-winning actor Gil Birmingham has appeared in more than 40 film and television productions. Most recently, Birmingham generated public acclaim for his portrayal as Billy Black in Twilight, based on the best-selling book series by Stephenie Meyer. His TV and screen credits include appearances in End of the Spear, Dreamkeeper, Skins, Gentle Ben, The Doe Boy, Love's Long Journey, Nip/Tuck, 10 Items or Less, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Veronica Mars and Body & Soul. In 2005, his powerful portrayal of Dogstar in Steven Spielberg's six-part TV miniseries, Into the West, captured the attention of audiences worldwide. Birmingham recently finished filming The Love Ranch, starring Helen Mirren and Joe Pesci, directed by Taylor Hackford, and he will return as Billy Black in the Twilight sequel, New Moon, scheduled for release in November 2009. He also just completed Rango, an animated film with Johnny Depp, that is scheduled for release in 2011.

    Jeff is a strong activist in domestic violence programs and as an investor and owner of small businesses. Not only is Jeff a successful small business man, he also has proven his commitment to human rights, working with battered women and children as a family violence counselor early in his career. In an effort to close the circle of domestic violence, Jeff saw the need to create a counseling program for men that abused their partners and spouses. The programs that Jeff established continue today and have helped create greater awareness of the issue and decrease repeat domestic violence cases. Upon moving to Charlotte, Jeff took a position with the Mecklenburg County Women’s Commission as a social worker. There, he continued to work with women and children affected by domestic violence. After his advocacy work he worked for US Air Express as a baggage handler and then went on to work for US Airways as a flight attendant. In 2004, he began his career as an entrepreneur by investing in and working at a restaurant in Charlotte. From there, he went on to invest in local restaurants and businesses, even expanding his investing to restaurants and businesses in Canada. In February of 2009, he started CDK Consulting, and now primarily works with consulting on energy and broadband. Born in 1971, Jeff Doctor is the son of Albert and Bonni Doctor. His father is a Native American of the Tonawanda Band of the Seneca tribe . Jeff spent his childhood growing up in Eden, NY, neighboring the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation. After graduating high school in Eden, Jeff attended Brevard College in Brevard, North Carolina where he studied music education. After a year, he transferred to Potsdam State University, again pursuing music education. Jeff was very involved at Potsdam. He joined the basketball program as a walk on and participated in such activities and organizations as the Potsdam Association of Native Americans (PANA), the American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES)

    A Conversation with Arvel Bird

    Arvel studied under the great violin master, Paul Rolland for one year. "That was the most defining time of my musical career. Paul taught me so much about performing; he taught me how to relax in order to always give my best performance. He literally took me apart and put me back together again." Arvel began composing, improvising, and learning to play a variety of styles bluegrass, Celtic, folk, country and old-time music. His mix-blood heritage of Southern Paiute & Scottish is now the inspiration for most of his music and he has found a way to incorporate many facets of that ancestry into his signature musical style and stories. When you consider the popularity of movies such as "Braveheart" and "Last of the Mohicans", you'll have a pretty good understanding why his music inspires fans to feel their own connection to their American Indian and Celtic heritages. For eleven years Arvel toured with Glen Campbell, Clay Walker, Louise Mandrell, Tom T. Hall, Ray Price, Loretta Lynn and others. Now as a recording artist, he tours internationally performing his own music as a soloist or with his group, "Many Tribes, One Fire". Since 2001 he has released fourteen CDs and one DVD, which have been nominated or won awards for a number of categories in the Native American Music Awards, Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards. Arvel's music is a fusion of styles - from classical to Celtic, bluegrass & jazz all which all blend together to create his unique World music sound. The more recent infusion of contemporary Native American has come about from his tapping into his Southern Paiute heritage. Each performance is a celebration of his Scottish & Southern Paiute ancestries, wihch he uses to create a true multi-cultural experience for every audience. He had the good fortune to record and collaborate with artists: Grammy nominees New Age pianist, Peter Kater, William Eaton, Mary Redhouse & Will Clipman, & Native American flutists, Joseph Firecrow & actor/singer/songwriter Irene Bedard.

    A Conversation with Charlie Hill

    Charlie Hill, a Native American comedian, whose laugh-out-loud comedy routines that are seasoned with insightful cultural observations about modern America. Charlie’s humor has helped break many stereotypes about Native Americans and Non-Native Americans, which was acknowledged with the Ivy Bethune Tri-Union Diversity Award 2009 for SAG. Charlie is also most recently featured in a Showtime Special, "The Indian Comedy Slam, No Reservations Needed", which is airing November 2009 on Showtime. Charlie is the featured performer in the PBS program “On and Off the Res” from Native American Public Telecommunications, and he has appeared with such comedy stalwarts as David Letterman, Jay Leno, Jim Carrey, Robin Williams, and Roseanne and appeared on “The Late Show with David Letterman” as part of the CBS show’s 13th anniversary episode. Charlie is an accomplished actor, appearing in TV and Feature Films, such as Moesha, Roseanne, North of 60, Naturally Native, Harold of Orange and Impure Thoughts. He also has written for the TV sitcom Roseanne and NPR’s Club Red with Charlie Hill. Much of Charlie’s humor focuses on his experiences as a Native American performer in the national spotlight, but his funny, relevant stories and observations which cross cultural lines to lighten and enlighten audiences everywhere with healing laughter.

    A Conversation with Shane Yellowbird

    Shane Yellowbird returns to the forefront of the Canadian country music scene with his highly anticipated sophomore album, It's About Time. Two full years in the making, and a true labour of love, It's About Time promises an exciting new collection of tunes, both true to the caliber of music that Yellowbird fans have come to appreciate, and yet explorative of a new side of this talented artist not yet seen. "It's About Time is more about me than my first record, if that makes sense," says Yellowbird. "Going into the studio, I had a real vision of what I wanted this album to be. I've made sure to record songs that really spoke to me. Each lyric and melody says something to me or about me. I'll leave that up to the listener to decide which is which!" The new album release on November 17th, 2009 - on On Ramp Records / EMI Music Canada - will coincide with Yellowbird's first appearance on the hallowed stage of the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. The performance will also mark Yellowbird’s entrance to the US market, with plans to release his music and videos in America in 2010. "I look forward to sharing my music with listeners south of the Canadian border," commented Yellowbird. "I have lots of fan's there and it's time I get out and see them." Yellowbird burst onto the country music scene in 2006 with the release of his debut album Life Is Calling My Name. Garnering four Top-10 radio singles and videos, the CD led Yellowbird to countless awards and accolades, including the coveted CCMA award for "Rising Star of the Year," the "Best Country Recording" award at the Native American Music Awards (for North America), and the "Aboriginal Entertainer of the Year" award at the Aboriginal People's Choice Awards (for North America). Growing up in Hobbema, Alberta, Yellowbird, who is Cree, was always a typical cowboy.

    A Conversation with Sterlin Harjo

    Sterlin Harjo belongs to the Seminole and Creek Nations, and is a native of Holdenville, Oklahoma. Interested from an early age in visual art and film, Harjo studied painting at the University of Oklahoma before writing his first feature-length script. Since then he has studied screenwriting in the University of Oklahoma's Film and Video Studies Program and under the Sundance Institute's Feature Film Program. In '04, Sundance Institute selected Harjo to receive an Annenberg Fellowship which provided extended support over a two-year period to facilitate the creation of his feature project. In '06 Harjo was in the first class of United States Artists award recipients. He was also the youngest recipient. Harjo completed a year of development on his feature film script FOUR SHEETS TO THE WIND through the Sundance Institute’s Filmmaker Labs where he worked under the guidance of industry veterans such as Robert Redford, Stanley Tucci, Joan Tewkesbury, Susan Shilliday, Frank Pierson, Walter Mosley, and Antonia Bird. Sterlin’s project was one of 12 projects chosen from a pool of almost 2,500 based on the uniqueness of his voice, the originality of his story and the promise of this feature film offering something poignant to American cinema. Harjo has directed three short films CROOKED LITTLE HEART, THEY'RE PLAYING HIS SONG, and GOOD NIGHT IRENE which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival 05 and has went on to play festivals around the world. The short film has garnered Harjo awards including Special Jury Recognition at the Aspen Shorts Festival, Best Oklahoma Film at the Dead Center film festival in Oklahoma City. In January '07 Harjo’s first feature film, FOUR SHEETS TO THE WIND, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. The film garnered warm responses from both audience’s and critics. Tamara Podemski won a Special Jury Prize for outstanding performance for her role in the film as Miri Smallhill. Harjo’s film BARKING WATER premiered at the '09 Sundance Film Festival.

    Born and raised in southern Montana, Bethany Yellowtail is a proud member of the Crow and Northern Cheyenne Tribes. Her Indian name is Ammaakealachehiibaachilakacheesh “Overcomes through Faith.” Yellowtail attended college at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) where she was recognized for her talents and skills. A member of Phi Theta Kappa, Presidents List, and being nominated for FIDM’s prestigious “fashion designers award,” she graduated Summa Cum Laude. Her fashion is inspired through her love for her native culture and european Haute Couture as well as mainstream high-end women's wear. An ultra contemporary infusion of native craftsmanship best describes Yellowtail's workmanship. The style is classy and sophisticated while still being edgy and sexy. Using only high quality fabrics and craft, every B.Yellowtail design is veraciously constructed. At this time Yellowtail resides in Los Angeles, California where she is developing her own label and working as a freelance fashion designer. She specializes in custom designs, and women’s wear including, bridal, cocktail, and evening dresses. Currently, she is designing for Raggstar Sourcing in partnership with WSS shoe warehouse and the famous Latino musician Pepe Aguilar.
