Without a progressive voice in the local media, is it really asking too much even for a moderate, common sense voice open to the possibility of change? Luckily, a surge of 30,000 new Nebraska Democrats does offer some reason to hope - especially as Democrats retake the registration advantage in Douglas County.     Republican Senate nominee Mike Johanns is caught-up in a scandal for campaigning on taxpayer's dime on orders from Karl Rove and the Bush Administration throughout 2006, but the Nebraska media doesn't seem to care in the slightest. Laziness on their part or just plain-old Republican bias? Regardless, with only 16 days left before the election, we're wondering how voters will ever be able to hold Johanns accountable for a record on which the Nebraska press won't even provide any honest reporting.
