Pastor Brad Morgan of New Life Beginnings Church in Brookshire / Pattison, TX speaks about seasons of transition. Transition is defined as movement from one place. The Lord does transition us. If we are willing to move with God in the transition then God will bring us into a new season. God is constantly moving, and if we are going to walk with God then we have to learn how to move with Him. In 2 Kings 2 it says, "And it came to pass, when the Lord was about to take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal. 2 Then Elijah said to Elisha, “Stay here, please, for the Lord has sent me on to Bethel.” But Elisha said, “As the Lord lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you!” So they went down to Bethel. In this passage, Gilgal is a remote place, and Bethel is the place where you have a living encounter with God that marks your life. This journey continues to Jericho, a closed up place. They continue to Jordan, which represents the place that will drown you. It looks like you will not make it sometimes, but if you have a word from God you will make it.
At the end of Elijah and Elisha's journey. Elijah, who was about to leave him asked in 2 Kings 2:9, "And so it was, when they had crossed over, that Elijah said to Elisha, “Ask! What may I do for you, before I am taken away from you?”
Elisha said, “Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.”
When God transitions you, there will be a separation, you may lose some things, and some people. God is wanting to transition you. Look for the signals and be willing to go to the place of Bethel, Jericho and Jordan.
