Sometimes we observe that stressful events originating outside of the family persecution, natural disater, a serious fire, or recial prejudice, for example, often solidify a family so that members pull together to resolve crisis. When stress is internal like a suicide attempt, infidelity, child abuse, or alcoholism, the crisis is more disruptive and inclined to tear the family apart.
