How is God building His church?

We see today a vast variety of churches around us, from mega churches to house churches. We see famous Pastors, Teachers and Prophets going around saying they have the blueprint of how church is to be built. Their words are convincing because they have the proof-isn't the proof is in the pudding? The proofs are they have many people at their beckon call and thousands if not millions listen to them so who can say they don't have the blueprint? Jesus made this statement to Peter, "on this rock I WILL build my church...", if Jesus made this statement thousands of years ago, is he still building His church or is it men?
