Laurie Hurley is a native of Detroit, Michigan where she grew up and attended college at Michigan State University. She graduated with a degree in Business Management and Psychology. Laurie worked in Corporate America for over 20 years, first in the retail and fashion industry as a buyer and then in regional store management. Before she retired and became an entrepreneur, Laurie worked for Hilton Hotels Corporation, mostly on the East Coast in such famed hotels as the Walt Disney World Hilton and the Waldorf-Astoria in Manhattan. Laurie then moved to Nashville where she was in charge of the 2000 room addition to the Opryland Hotel and Resort.
After adopting her first daughter from China in 1995, Laurie began a 13-year journey as an entrepreneur, as the founder and CEO of three educational businesses. Most recently, Laurie dissolved her corporation, sold one business and founded The Social Networking Navigator. After taking an online course in Social Media on a structured membership site, Laurie discovered that a more personal, customized approach to learning social media was what small business owners and entrepreneurs needed, not just the "how to" but the "what for." Laurie concentrates on social media marketing strategy and helps others to find their voice on social media. She provides private coaching, complete social media management programs, conducts live seminars, webinars, and tele-series and is a sought after keynote speaker.
Her recent debut on internet radio, The Social Networking NewsHour, is her latest foray into the world of social networking. She is spreading her message of authenticity and pragmatic advice, all delivered from her heart with a bit of humor mixed in.
Laurie is married, has two teenage daughters, two dogs, three cats and is an avid runner and beginning Zumba addict.
