Three things made it possible for Neil Fo Real to become a rap artist. Being born and raised in Detroit (Motown), being naturally creative and having a strong love for Rap Music. All it took was for something to ignite this proverbial powder keg and set the music scene ablaze. In 1988 such an event took place, His first cousin was murdered at the age of 12. Neil took the loss very hard, and internalizing the pain didn’t help matters any. In actuality, this tragedy only served as fuel for the fiery rage that was already burning within him. Over the next 20 years, Neil merely dabbled in rap music. It wasn’t until the spring of 2008 that he began taking the rap game seriously. It was a reunion with some grade school classmates that led him to Da Barracuda, a local DJ who was in the process of restarting his own musical prowess and building his company, Work First Entertainment. Through Barracuda, Neil learned the intricacies of the rap industry and the inner workings of a music studio. The name, Neil Fo Real, originally given to him by a former co-worker, would be the blueprint by which he would model his career and persona. The rage within him which manifested itself in extreme outbursts of anger and violence laid the foundation for a split personality like persona. On one had there was Tre One Tre who loved to laugh and have fun. Then there was Mr. Grownazzman who loved chaos and strife. He would meld the two personalities together, never denouncing one for the other but embracing them both to become Neil Fo Real, the best and worst of both worlds. Through his company, Fo Real Doe Entertainment, Neil plans to follow in the footsteps of some of Hip Hop’s pioneers such as Russell Simmons and Master P, by building his own corporate empire from the ground up. He plans to independently publish and distribute his debut album titled, “Are U Fo Real?” set to be released sometime in the near future.
