Negotiate! Radio is a not-for-profit community service initiative. Its objectives are to collect and diffuse information on negotiation, mediation, and alternative dispute resolution (ADR), both in theory and by analyzing case studies. It is my aspiration that listeners will use the information learned in the shows, especially conflict resolution techniques, in their personal lives, thus living a more peaceful, prosperous, and fulfilling life. Here you will find interviews with a series of experts from many industries, academia, and the public and nonprofit sectors. These people will cover a variety of different topics, showing how everyone can improve their lives by enhancing and applying their negotiation skills. Due to the current economic crisis, many of the upcoming interviews will be dedicated to assisting people to resolve problems with debtors. I.e. negotiate with credit card companies and modify loans. In other words, problems that are haunting millions of Americans. Meet Paulo Amaral, the interviewer: Paulo Amaral has negotiated in the public, private, and non-profit sectors and has helped reconcile personal relationships. Paulo Amaral graduated with Bachelor's degrees in Peace and Conflict Studies and Development Studies from the University of California, Berkeley, where he learned the art and science of mediation. Currently he has his own mediation firm, Amaral Mediation Services, based in Santa Fe Springs, CA, and he also mediates for the Los Angeles County Dept. of Consumer Affairs. Paulo Amaral is a member of the Southern California Mediation Association.
