Our topic tonight is Holiday Depression.

This is one of the most common topics in media about psychology and mental health.

There are thousands of books, magazines, articles, podcasts, TV show and movie plots, rock music lyrics, artwork, and so on, that are about depression specific to the holidays throughout the year, and especially at Thanksgiving, Christmastime, and other winter holidays where we are bombarded with Norman Rockwell-like scenarios that all the lost people are coming home to loving families, sinful dinner celebrations, and bonding fun time.

In spite of the myriad resources out there, people still struggle so often with holiday depression, and one of the most insidious aspects of depression is unwillingness to ask for help.

We will discuss this and other coping strategies, as well as take questions from our listeners.
