Brent Gibson, MD, MPH, FACPM, Vice President of operations for NCCHC discusses the creation and implementation of CHORDS - the Correctional Health Outcomes and Resource Data Set.

The correctional health care field has done very little benchmarking of health care performance, although it could greatly enhance quality and effectiveness of care. Modeled after the National Committee for Quality Assurance’s Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set, CHORDS is a quality improvement initiative that uses aggregate performance data and information to enable benchmarking among correctional health care providers.
