According to their website on www.nativestorytellers.com - Ken Quiet Hawk and Deborah New Moon Rising are very popular storytellers at Pow Wows and Native gatherings. They have performed at concerts and schools throughout New England, as well as traveling the entire East coast to share the teachings of the native peoples.-- Both Quiet Hawk and New Moon Rising believe that storytelling should be more than just entertainment.--“Storytelling should be a means of teaching, teaching us all how to be better people.” -- They have spent many years searching and researching for the stories that portray the true heart of the Native peoples. Only those stories that are suitable for all ages are performed in their teachings.--2007 was the year that The Storytellers were signed by Spirit Wind Records and Raven Hawk Productions of New York. This union has been an enlightening experience, first with two nominations for the 2008 Native American Music Awards, then winning the 2008 NAMMY for the “Best Spoken Word Recording.” With their 2009 NAMMY nomination, The Storytellers were invited to perform at the eleventh annual Native American Music Awards V.I.P. party. The Storytellers have also received several Silver Arrow Awards for outstanding contributions to the Native American Music Industry. --- so join me Vincent Schilling as we sit by the proverbial fire and listen to some great stories and learn about the lives of Ken Quiet Hawk and Deborah New Moon Rising.
