As a Professional Genealogist, writer, Author and researcher, I enjoyed seeing the show, Who Do You Think You Are. This week I am delving into the work behind research, and the hard work behind researching and documenting a Family History. Although it is pleasure to see a show such as Who Do You Think You Are, there is a down side. The show is entertaining, however it does not show the hard work which goes into doing research. There are people behind the scenes pouring over records, and charting the family history of these celebrities. Some of us do this for a living and it is no easy task. My own family lines go deep in Virginia, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina, and are a mixture of African, Native, and European. Like Emmett Smith there was race mixing in my family in Virginia. Although things are changing, there was resistance to my connecting my lines to Historical figures like, George Washington and James Monroe. The show will delve into how to research and document your ancestors. Tune in and listen Up!!
