Most of us are taught by our parents, friends and culture that other people, events, and situations are responsible for how we feel. We are not taught that we have any control over our thoughts, emotions or feelings except to avoid certain people and "painful or bad" situations. This often leads to a lifetime of suffering and many temporarily successful & failed attempts to avoid all the things deemed bad, negative, evil, painful or unpleasant. Is this really a good coping strategy to lead a life of inner peace and clarity?
Is the idea that we have no control over how others make us feel true?
