Jamie Lee Curtis has lived a very public life. She was a model as an infant, a Hollywood scream queen in her twenties and now an accomplished children's author. But her greatest achievement was a very private one.

"Sobriety. It's the single most important thing I've ever done. When you gain sobriety in the middle of your life, you're really reborn," Curtis says in the July/August issue of More Magazine.

Unlike many celebrities who battle their addictions on the covers of the tabloids, Curtis confronted her off-and-on problems with drugs very privately. Not even her husband, funnyman Chris Guest of 'Spinal Tap' fame, knew about her struggles.

"Chris didn't have a clue," says Curtis.

She was finally inspired to turn her back on drugs thanks in large part to a New Year’s Eve dinner nearly a decade ago, where friends proposed that everybody write their wishes for the coming year on a small piece of paper. Sobriety was tops on Curtis' list, which sits in a frame on her desk as a reminder to this day.
