While many drug rehab statistics are nebulous, Narconon boasts a 76% success rate, based on a two year follow-up. A key to our success is the Narconon New Life Detoxification program. Through the use of a sauna, we provide body detoxification that can help eliminate or reduce cravings. Research has shown that, detoxification from drugs or alcohol should be followed by effective treatment to achieve long-term success. We provide that effective treatment. Our non-12 step approach provides life skills necessary to maintain sobriety and lead a successful life. These life skills will help the addict identify and resolve problems through learned techniques, rather than turn to drugs as they have in the past. For more information on how the Narconon program can help you or a loved one, go to www.drugsno.com or www.alternativesentence.com or call 877-413-3073.

This story is good news in many respects. For one thing, the title describing these people as “former addicts” gets it right. Anyone who is addicted can be a “former addict” rather than live as a “recovering addict” forever. Describing it right sets the proper goal and gives hope that life can go on drug free and without misery.
Additionally, these successes give hope that no matter the drug -heroin, pot, cocaine or other drugs of abuse, any addict can be a “former addict” if they get the right kind of drug treatment and give it their all.
Well done to these folks!

“Former drug addicts share their success stories at COMBAT event
It took losing custody of her son for LaShae Burgin-Shaw to realize that her addiction to marijuana was ruining her life.’
For years, the south Kansas City resident got high almost every day smoking marijuana. Burgin-Shaw, 18, eventually sought treatment, and now her life is slowly turning around.
Her treatment came through Jackson County’s Community-Backed Anti-Drug Tax program, or COMBAT. The organization held its annual drug-abuse awareness picnic Saturday at Hill Park in Independence, where recovering addicts such as Burgin-Shaw celebrated their sobriety.
“I feel good now, I can think straight and I am on the right track,” she said.”
