While many drug rehab statistics are nebulous, Narconon boasts a 76% success rate, based on a two year follow-up. A key to our success is the Narconon New Life Detoxification program. Through the use of a sauna, we provide body detoxification that can help eliminate or reduce cravings. Research has shown that, detoxification from drugs or alcohol should be followed by effective treatment to achieve long-term success. We provide that effective treatment. Our non-12 step approach provides life skills necessary to maintain sobriety and lead a successful life. These life skills will help the addict identify and resolve problems through learned techniques, rather than turn to drugs as they have in the past. For more information on how the Narconon program can help you or a loved one, go to www.drugsno.com or www.alternativesentence.com or call 877-413-3073.

Addiction, especially to prescription medication has been on the forefront of the news lately and constantly on the minds of the 22 million drug addicts and their families. With all this attention, of course politicians are going to say something about the situation. The fact is that the United States has the highest rate of persons incarcerated of any country in the world and most of it is for drugs related crimes.
Whether it is cocaine, heroin or methamphetamine, most addicts are driven to the point where they will do almost anything to get their drugs.
Get rid of the source – the addiction – and you get rid of the reason for crime.
It's pretty simple – elementary actually. Let's hope that something really gets done about it and that more effective drug treatment is on the horizon.

"HOBOKEN, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--A. Thomas McLellan, Ph.D. the top federal official on addiction treatment, chose Wiley newsletter Alcoholism & Drug Abuse Weekly for his first interview after being sworn in as deputy director of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy. Published in the Aug. 31 issue, the interview reveals the bold directions McLellan plans to head in, including a new focus on probation and parole, in partnership with Gil Kerlikowske, ONDCP director.
Talking with Wiley editor Alison Knopf, McLellan discusses his plans to strengthen treatment in community corrections, so that probation and parole are more effective in keeping people who need treatment, instead of incarceration, out of jail. Following the administration’s lead in the health care reform agenda, McLellan also proposes to reorganize the treatment system, integrating addiction treatment into health care in general.
“Treatment of addiction is no different from treatment of any other illness. Ideally, the federal government’s rules, regulations, and financing ought to be consonant with the best practices.” McLellan states in the interview before outlining proposed changes in current provider care he hopes to see."
