The war on drugs is simply a war on ignorance.  No one would purposely expose themselves to the problems attendant with addiction of drugs like heroin, cocaine and methamphetamine.  Most sane people would not put themselves in harm's way – yet many do when they try a drug for the first time.

The point is that no one is telling our kids the truth about drugs – at least no loud enough and convincingly enough for them to listen.  Truth is the only bullet that in the long run will quell the enemy.

Instead, everyone is listening to what Obama and Merida are saying about the problem, while kids in the school yard are telling their friends about the latest new drug.

"The United States remains committed to the anti-drug Merida Initiative to aid Mexico in its fight against violent drug cartels, President Obama said during a summit this week in Guadalajara where drugs, immigration and trade topped the discussion list.

CNN reported Aug. 10 that Obama endorsed the aid package despite calls to hold up some of the funding due to alleged human-rights violations by Mexican soldiers. "We have been very supportive of the Merida Initiative, and we remain supportive," Obama said…"
