AKA Capt Black, I promote avoiding trouble to at-risk youth and their adult counterparts. I practice self-development; political activism; and use entertainment( event security and talent promotion ) as a platform for popularizing the highest use of our potential. The vehicles for this include constant applied research into methods from spiritual Black movements, modern self-help and self-development resources from other cultures.

THANK GOD I'M NO LONGER A CIVIL RIGHTS ACTIVIST!!

When I finally realized that you can't stand up for people who refuse to stand up for themselves was the day I stopped wasting time being a civil rights activist.

Most of the people activists try to help will NEVER return the favor, as I discovered lately when people I'd supported for years and causes I'd repeatedly helped turned their backs on me to a man... and woman during a city council race.

Truthfully, I'd already become quite fatigued with trying to push Black Deadweight up the steep incline of progress but I thought and felt this was truly the " Good Fight. "

Thankfully I've signed on to a " Better Fight "; the fight to join those of like mind as we create realities where excellence, dependability and dignity are the rule, not the exception.

I thank ALLAH as a Muslim  that I'm a former civil rights activist because I'm too valuable to waste time and effort on the loud, lazy losers who clutter the national Black community with their bad thinking/feeling combinations, as witnessed daily in hoods from coast-to-coast. They are no more my "brothers" and 'sisters" than the Klan or skinheads.

Those who will say I dislike my own people miss the Kilimanjaro-sized point:  I like productive people, of my own and any color. I simply don't have time to waste anymore begging, bribing or tolerating unproductivity, beginning at home in my ethnic group and radiating outward to include anyone who has decided to live a self-destructive lifestyle.

I resigned from the local NAACP Executive Committee ( as a life member! ) and our National Action Network chapter because pushing deadweight uphill is ultimately an exercise in futility!

Until many Black people want more for themselves, all efforts to " uplift " them are well-intentioned but doomed to failure. All the White liberal sympathy and pats on the head in the world won't help either!

Any other group would have written off such non-productivity decades ago but we are slowly coming to the conclusion that there are folks so damaged in our midst that the best we can do is wave goodbye as they sail off into self-made oblivion.

When I was a civil rights activist I thought most of us were intelligent, dignified people who were being discriminated against. Sadly, that is still the case but looming over even this negative is a wave of dysfunctional individuals whose every word and act turns the clock of Black Progress backward.

The loudness, rudeness and violence I see from a segment of the Black community has all but left its apologists exhausted.

There is no rhyme nor reason in today's march toward new lows in personal conduct. Even more sad is the applause from reactionary Whites and Blacks in government anxious for more excuses to limit civil liberties.

How in good conscience could I continue advocating for a segment that would attempt to rob, swindle or even murder its would-be helpers in the blink of a gangsta rap lyric?

I come from a success-driven Black culture and have always resonated with this orientation in other communities. The world unfolding in my inner city neighborhood is one I must oppose as vigorously as some predecessors did Jim Crow.

The best civil rights activist is someone who exercises his civil rights of lifelong learning; dignity and open-mindedness on his own behalf. You cannot help others if you refuse to first help yourself.

I promote self-development and building alliances with like minded people across the social spectrum. I promote positive opposition to anti-social behavior and even personal intervention when presented with significant misconduct or even crimes in progress.

If we're honest, every other group has dealt with their deadweight. When Black folks finally do, maybe then I'll become a civil rights activist again.

Currently, all I can offer the body politic is self-development and alliances with like minded people.

Those of us who love being loud and enjoy being destructive are not part of my reality.

    They never have been.
