Tonight's special guest is Susan Suafoa-Dinino from Tennessee, a returning NAASCA family member and founder of the Speaking Out Against CSA non profit organization. Susan will be telling us what she's been doing since we last heard from her a couple of years ago. NAASCA appreciates her anti-child abuse efforts. In 2000, Susan was faced with a very real issue in which she was unfamiliar .. the horrifying truth and reality of child sexual abuse (CSA). "Since that time," she writes, "I have been trying to figure out a way to help children who are Sexually Abused. The task seemed impossible once I read the statistics and learned about the failures of the systems in place that are supposed to protect children. The truth is that we live in a fallen world in which many children are robbed of their innocence by Sexual Predators." The primary purpose of the effort she launched, Speaking Out Against CSA, is "to raise awareness on child sexual abuse in an effort to aid in prevention." Susan says she'd like to talk about "children who were failed by the system as pertaining to the crime of Child Sexual Abuse and what today looks like for some of them." Susan believes child safety begins at home, in addition to at churches, daycare centers, and schools, and with caregivers, healthcare professionals and anyone who works with or around children. The Speaking Out Against CSA approach is to be proactive, to prevent and stop child sexual abuse before it happens. Their services are presented from a parent's perspective and, in some areas, a survivor's perspective.
