Tonight's special guest is Kari Kelley from Sunnyvalle, CA, a child abuse survivor, advocate and author. Kari shares from her past childhood abuse how she learned to heal the core wound that was key in helping her move forward. Born in Southern California, Kari was conceived as a consequence of her mother being violently assaulted. Kari was adopted twice; once at 9 months old and again at 4 years old. Kari spent her life in this family being abused and neglected. Her experiences in these families left Kari wounded, battered and legally blind. Like so many others who have lived through similar situations, Kari spent years living as a victim until she discovered a deep inner strength and a purpose. She turned her childhood ordeal into an opportunity. She now inspires and assists people to overcome adversity in their own lives. Kari offers support through her Restore Your Resilience program which helps women overcome the struggle of being abused as children. She's been a featured speaker, author and vocalist on a wide variety of stages, panels, radio and TV shows across the United States. She has published her autobiography entitled "Black, Blind and Female." Kari is also featured in the May 2014 issue of Landmark Insights, about the creation, production and performance of her one woman show “Somebody Else's Child”.
