Tonight's special guest is Scott Cronan from Los Angeles, a child abuse survivor and film Director. "I am currently working on my first feature film that centers around an adult victim of child abuse," Scott writes, "and the struggles she experiences in her life due to the traumas in her childhood. I am using my background with abuse and knowledge of film to create an experience that will help shape the conversation around child abuse in this country. And perhaps the world." As a survivor of childhood sexual abuse Scott struggled in his youth to find a path in life, always doubting himself and feeling as though he was never good enough. "When I was a little boy the father of a neighbor friend of mine would have us undress and touch each other," he explains, "which started a string of acting out and inappropriate sexual behavior towards others around me at a very young age. I was often struggling." Scott goes on, "It wasn't until my mid twenties when I found my path in the film industry that I was able to begin some value for myself and the things I had to say and create in the world." Over the next 13 years he worked hard and learned all that he could about film production working his way up to video editor for major companies like Apple, AOL, Coca-Cola, LA Times etc and finally settling into Cinematographer and Director. He's done well. "I recently completed my first short art film, 'Forgiveness is a Weapon,' and won the award for Best Short Film in London in February 2015."
