Call in to speak with the host
SPECIAL TOPIC Night - "For Our Kids" - Deborah Maddison, Angela Borths and Tracy Baxter will lead the discussion about the Rights of Children and Families in North America in a series of bi-weekly shows dealing with the subject. Kevin Cline who runs The Child Welfare Reform and Family Support Association in Tacoma, Washington www.supportthepoorfamily.org, will be a panelist. First we'll visit with Canada's Julie Salisbury, founder of Influence Publishing, who has seen the importance of making it possible for authors to speak out about their child abuse. We'll discuss how she has a special process she uses to ensure people feel safe and ready, and how there are healing benefits in this. Her authors become a support network for each other. Kelli Benis, author of "Shredding the Shame," Eugenea "Gina" Couture, who penned "Adoption Not An Option," and Kim Bartell, co-author with Theo Fleury of the new book, "Conversations with a Rattlesnake," are all confirmed for the show. We'll have each one discuss salient points and find out why they decided to speak out. They'll talk about how it has helped them to cope and begin to heal .. to rip away the shame and stigma survivors put on themelves. It should be a very powerful show. ~~ Every two weeks a new THEME will be presented in this series, with frequent special guests speaking from their own experience. ~~ Please see our web page at: www.NAASCA.org/ForOurKids or write to: firstname.lastname@example.org
