Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN) - 863

Tonight's special guest is Ken Heard from London, Ontario, Canada, a child abuse survivor and activist who's now doing all he can to help other survivors find a path to healing. He's becoming a more and more involved volunteer member of the NAASCA family. Ken is associated with Emmaus Cares, a non profit that offers help and hope for adult survivors of trauma, neglect and abuse. Emmaus provides effective counseling to men and women who suffered neglect, trauma or abuse as children, fosters and supports local Child Abuse Prevention initiatives through the production of resources for parents and others in positions of trust and raises public awareness and understanding of the far reaching problems abuse creates not only for the survivors but for society as a whole. Their "Road to HOPE" program provides individuals an opportunity to become calm, happy and healthy, have good relationships and achieve their goals regardless of what has happened in the past. Emmaus also provides speakers, training and seminars for anyone wishing to learn more about how to support survivors of neglect, trauma or abuse and resources for parents and caregivers to better provide for the needs of children.
