Tonight's special guest is Mike Willbur from Vancouver, Washington, an experienced interviewer working with incarcerated Veterans who is currently working with Domestic Violence perpetrators and anger management clients who have experienced trauma. But more than this, he is a grandfather who lost five of his grandchildren in one night and is working to ensure that never happens again in his community. He writes, "Tuan Dao seemed to everyone but his own family, to be a loving father. Even his extended family had little warning of what lay hidden beneath the surface. On April 24, 2011, the world woke up to a raging inferno that revealed who Tuan Dao really was. Who was this man who could burn his house down around himself and five of his children?" In his book, “More Than Domestic Violence, The Insidious Story,” Willbur gives the answer to that question. Were there warning signs that Tuan Dao was capable of this atrocity? Mike explores these questions from multiple perspectives. Willbur has taken his experience and education into the prisons to work as a volunteer as well as in the local community. Additionally, he works as a counselor, treating Domestic Violence perpetrators. Willbur, with his wife of 28 years, Ki, reside in Vancouver, Washington and are both actively involved in increasing awareness of domestic violence, its causes and solutions.
