Tonight's special guest is Shane Jeffreys from Paulding, Ohio, a survivor of severe physical abuse who lives near NAASCA family member MJ Goyings. His web site's at www.HatesNotCool.com. A victim of a bully when he was 16, Shane suffering a traumatic brain injury. He spent months fighting to regain his life and is now travelling to schools to educate young people on the seriousness of this issue. He explains, "On March 17, 1994, while I was a 16-year old high-school sophomore, I became the victim of a bully. While in gym class, he sucker-punched me in the temple. As a result of this, I suffered a traumatic brain injury. This led me to have a stroke, and spend a month in a coma. When I awoke, I was like a newborn baby, and had to relearn everything in my life. I couldn’t walk, talk, bathe, or go to the bathroom. It was truly devastating to me and my family. I had nearly died, all due to the actions of a bully. Life today is still a struggle due to my physical disabilities. Bullying in schools is a serious issue that needs to be addressed, and I feel my story needs to be told." Shane has done numerous interviewes where he tells his story and explains his mission is "to educate today's youth on the dangers and consequences of bullying."
