Tonight's special guest is Laurie Ann Smith from Calgary, Canada, a long time NAASACA family member who's returning to the show to get us caught up. Laurie does her own talk shows on the BlogTalkRadio service called "The Whole Issue" speaking out against child abuse, and all human rights abuses. Her main focus is child abuse and she shares her own story on many of her shows. Ms Smith writes, "My focus now is Christian based healing via Biblical Counseling information that I am studying for certification." She has an Associates in Biblical Studies and is studying now for a Bachelor's Degree in Ministry. Her hope is to eventually earn a Doctorate in Theology. And she goes on, "My main goal was and still is to be "one more voice" for abused children, those that did not survive, and those that did. I wanted to be one more voice speaking out against what has always been swept under the carpet and kept secret, hidden behind closed doors and window shades pulled tight. I speak the harsh truth about Child Abuse and I am also a big advocate for education and prevention as well." Laurie is a published author of three books and some poetry. Her three books are all about her story of growing up in an abusive home. All proceeds from her books go to not for profit organizations that work to promote the prevention of Child Abuse. Her poetry is published with Kate Swift's R.S.O.S.A not for profit group called This Tangled Web in the UK, by Chipmunka Publishing.
