Tonight's special guest is Jeanetta Issa from Jackson County, Missouri, CEO of the Child Abuse Prevention Association (CAPA). Their mission is to prevent and treat all forms of child abuse by creating changes in individuals, families and society that strengthen relationships and promote healing. CAPA offers three levels of programming designed to prevent child abuse. 1) Education - Primary prevention programs directed toward the community to stop child abuse before it occurs. 2) Family Support Services - Secondary prevention programs for families with significant needs; designed to alleviate conditions associated with child abuse. 3) Counseling - Tertiary prevention programs for adults and children who have experienced child abuse; designed to decrease consequences and prevent its recurrence. Each supports the mission to prevent and treat all forms of child abuse by creating changes in individuals, families and society that strengthen relationships and promote healing. Community education, and classes provided by CAPA, are designed to increase awareness of abuse and its prevention, improve parenting skills, and teach personal safety skills to children. - Download Brochure
