Special guest: award winning Yukon singer-songwriter Kim Beggs. It has often been said that all Canadian artists are influenced by geography, and even though the soul informing Kim Beggs’ music might sound Appalachian, it is easy to hear how the expansiveness of the Yukon allows her creative imagination to roam. The west was settled long ago and Kim’s frontier heart needed somewhere to inhabit, merge with and make her own.
Kim was a nominee in CBC Radio’s Songquest competition. Her CD Wanderer’s Paean earned her a Canadian Folk Music Award and Western Canadian Music Award nomination along with a Porcupine Award for Find of the Year.
“A voice as cool and as refreshing as the Yukon river delivers songwriting of the highest order,” says Maverick Magazine(UK) in a five star review of her latest album, Blue Bones. Now Magazinesays, “Kim Beggs is the real deal.” Kim was the iTunes Spotlight Feature for Indie Singer Songwriter, while the Globe and Mail declared Maiden Heart (from Blue Bones) an Essential Track. Kim is a three time finalist in the International Songwriting Competition and 3rd place winner in 2008 and was nominated for two Canadian music awards for her second album Wanderer’s Paean. Blue Bones is released with Black Hen Music in Canada, the US, and Europe.
