"Butch" of course, is a little rambunctious Boston terrier, which joins Jeff each week in the studio and is often the "idea-man" behind the topics that are covered! Butch taught Jeff a lot about being a "New Dog Dad!" Special features include the "Shelter of the Week" Segment which covers animal rescue shelters in all 50 states and also a vet question of the week segment offering advice from a professional veterinarian from various locations around the country. Catherine Frost of Planetdog.com joins us to discuss this great program started in Maine and also see their website www.planetdog.com. They are a great company doing great work for animal adoptions! PARTNERSHIP OF PRIVATE BUSINESSES, NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS AND GOVERNMENT CREATES “ADOPT” SPECIALTY PLATE FOR MAINE
Portland, Maine (October 2008) - Planet Dog is proud to announce that the Maine Adoption Leaders Team (MALT) has succeeded in pre-selling the required 2,000 "adopt" specialty license plates to Maine citizens in order to propose a bill for the 2009 legislative session. MALT is a partnership of Maine private businesses, non-profit organizations, and government agencies working on behalf of Maine's animals. In addition to Planet Dog, it is comprised of Happy Tails (specializing in doggie day care, boarding and training), the Animal Welfare Society, the Animal Refuge League, the Maine Chapter of The Humane Society of the United States, and the State of Maine Animal Welfare Program (AWP).

The Panasonic PetCam is great for pet people who want to look in on their pet while they are away from home during the day to make sure everything is OK. The PetCam is small, measuring about 3x3x1 which makes it easy to place just about anywhere and it comes with a mounting bracket that can be attached to a wall or ceiling to be kept out of reach. Each PetCam comes with a free, permanent Web address that enables the viewer to watch their pet on a computer or a mobile phone through a Web browser. The Pet cam connects right into your home router or cable switch. A built-in motion sensor, which is a nice feature on this PetCam, can be set to record when your pet enters the camera’s field of vision. This prevents filling up your memory with pictures of your empty room! Another great feature is that it can even notify you by e-mail when the pet enters the room. The PetCam can be operated by a remote control using the included software and features a 10x digital zoom for enlarged viewing. It also has a storage capacity of up to 250 images in its internal memory.
They have a few different versions of this camera including a Pan/Tilt and also a wireless version. This is a great gift idea for Christmas!
In 2007 Panasonic launched www.SeeMyPetCam.com, an online community and resource for pet lovers to share and watch videos, communicate with other animal lovers and view pet articles, advice and animals available for adoption. The Panasonic PetCam BL-C1 can be purchased at www.panasonic.com or www.amazon.com for about $100.00. More information available at www.seemypetcam.com.
I really recommend this for singles, like myself who find it necessary to leave their pet home during the day. It really gives you peace of mind being able to see what Butch is up to. It’s a good thing it doesn’t have smell-a-vision because Butch can fill a room faster than any human I know!
