Biggi Vinkeloe was born in Germany and resides in Sweden and California is a jazz musician and composer and plays alto saxophone and flute. She began exploring jazz and improvised music, as a flautist at 15, and bought her first saxophone at 22. She studied jazz in France and Switzerland. While pursuing a master's in French Literature at University Lyon II. Her Bachelor's is in Sociology and German. In 1996, she completed her degree in Music Therapy at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. Since 2001 she travels between Sweden and California, working as a music therapist with challenged students in public schools. She co-founded a Rudolf Steiner School for autistic children and youth, offering music, drama, arts and eurhythmics with the ordinary curriculum. In 1988 she joined the Workshop Orchestra of avant garde pianist Cecil Taylor in Berlin. The Biggi Vinkeloe Trio which toured in Europe and North America for 10 years with Peeter Uuskyla (d) and various bassists including Barre Phillips, Peter Kowald, Ken Filiano and Peter Friis Nielsen. Her debut as a bandleader was with the CD Mr. Nefertiti (1992) with Georg Wolf and Uuskyla. Vinkeloe's projects and multimedia events are numerous. The most recent is a concert and recording project with old and new music with Karin Nelson, François Lemonnier, mezzosoprano Maria Forsström, and the Volcanic Choir, a young ladies choir.
