Alexis Caputo is a Florida & New York based Performance Artist, Poet, Writer, Activist and Director of Project Witness that provides tailored artistic and educational workshops for multiple platforms. Her newest project, SOULED OUT with first time choreography by Michelle Grant-Murray and a second visit with choreography and collaboration by Lutricia Welters of Jubilee Dance Theatre is debuting at the Langston Hughes Cultural Center in New York for Black History Month 2010. Known for her written works, including "Truths Carved from the Belly", "Woman of the Drum", "The Proud Pilgrim" and "Deconstruction & Deliverance", Caputo has emerged as an original voice in theatre, poetry and performance.

Caputo has presented original performances at notable off Broadway theaters - The Harlem Theatre Company, Abron’s Art Center • Henry Street Settlement and Dixon Place. A Bahamian- American, Caputo worked as a journalist profiling people throughout the Caribbean, exploring issues of culture and identity. www.alexiscaputo.com
