A native New Yorker, Sandi Blair holds a Master of Arts degree in Music Performance (concentrated in Jazz) from New York University. In 1993 Sandi, with her band Real Magic, won the $10,000 grand prize in the Cognac-Hennessey “Best of New York Jazz” competition and, in that same year, she produced her debut CD entitled “No More Blues”. Sandi’s subsequent independently released CDs: “You Make Me Smile” and “Japan – My Way” display a versatility possessed only by a seasoned vocal musician. Sandi’s most recent release, “I AM” is her debut into the new genre, Jazz/Gospel. From 1994 to 2001 Sandi’s home base was Osaka, Japan and during that time she performed with such jazz luminaries as Hank Jones, Rufus Reid, Lenny White, Bertha Hope, Omar Hakeem, Louis Nash, Ronny Mathews and Jimmie Smith to name just a few. Upon her return to New York, Sandi joined the Sacred Arts Ministry of the Emmanuel Baptist Church where she was the resident vocal technique instructor for the 200-voice choir, Total Praise. In 2007 Sandi filmed an Oxford Advantage Insurance Company commercial that gave her daily major television network exposure. Currently based in Atlanta, Georgia, Sandi conducts workshops and teaches privately while continuing to maintain a busy travel and performance schedule. In April 2010 she performed at the 19th Annual Saint Lucia Jazz Festival as the “Atlanta’s Next Best” grand prize winner. Website
