Laura B. Whitmore holds a B.S. in Music Merchandising and M.B.A. in Marketing from Hofatra. She worked at CBS Records in the Direct Marketing department. She was in marketing, PR and artist relations for Korg USA, Marshall, and VOX brands. She edited Korg’s ProView Magazine. In 2008, Laura founded Mad Sun Marketing, specializing in marketing, PR, artist relations, event production, and graphic design for music and audio companies. Clients included 65amps, Academic Superstore, Acoustic Amplification, Agile Partners, Colby Amplifiers, Dean Markley USA, Korg, KVRaudio, Muse Research, NewBay Media, Notion Music, SIR Entertainment Services, SIR Stage37, SoundTree, Sterling Audio.
A singer-songwriter, Whitmore created Guitar Girl'd for GuitarWorld.com. She moderated workshops at NAMM and SXSW on marketing, PR, apps and music making, songwriting. She co-hosts open mics with West Coast Songwriters Association in Lafayette, CA. She organized Women’s Music Summit in 2012, in New York and the 2013 Women’s Music Summit in Los Angeles.
In 2012, Laura founded the Women’s International Music Network - TheWiMN.com - to host news, events, and a forum for women in the industry. All music organizations for women may submit news and events about female musicians, projects relating to women in the industry, products targeted to female musicians, and more!
