The son of a preacher, Stevie J (Stephen Johnson) was introduced to the "devil's music" when he met the great Bobby Rush. From that point on, his musical life has been on the fast track heading to stardom. Stevie J was awarded "Contemporary Blues Artist - Male" for the Jus' the Blues Awards in 2011. He was a finalist at the just completed International Blues Challenge and his newest project "The Diversity Project" is making noise in music circles. A double album(now that in itself is news in this day) combines his first blues album , "Standin' at the Station", with his "Soul Sessions", an album of soul and funk which he also completed in early 2010. Stevie J will sit with us and discuss his growing up and how his meeting with Mr. Rush changed his life. We will also discuss his time in Memphis at the IBC. Then Greg Sosoreny will take a seat on The Couch. Greg took a twisting road to music and performing owning several businesses prior to his leap; a technical staffing company in Dallas, a general contracting company in Miami Beach, and a small cafe in Las Colinas, Texas. It was at the later, watching the local musicians he booked to play his venue that music began to take hold. Greg began his own record label, Truth Records, and began producing other artists. Now it is Greg's time and he will sit with me on The Couch and discuss his journey and his debut release "Ramblin Man", a collection of tunes with a pop-country-R&B feel, which contins some incredible musicians backing Greg up . Join me as I sit with Stevie J and Greg and introduce y'all to two more musicians you should know.
