Surrounding herself with top LA talent, The Wild Clams are a massive band, at some points up to 16 pieces, that reflect Cecilia’s passion, flamboyance, and the many elements that influence her music from salsa and soul to jazz, funk, and afro-cuban. Pedal steel guitarist and proud member of LA Latino musicBob Bernstein is an unlikely member of the Los Angeles Latino fusion music community.  He has been playing music since he was 10 years old and fell so much in love with the sound of a pedal steel guitar that he saved up his allowance and bought one while he was in high school;  the rest is history.  That history includes winning an Oscar for Best Original Score on Brokeback Mountain, working with Hans Zimmer on the Man of Steel, live and recorded performances with Freddy Fender, Tanya Tucker, Jerry Lee Lewis, Emmylou Harris, Mark Chesnutt, Dwight Yoakum, Michelle Shocked, Curt Kirkwood from the Meat Puppets, Erasure, Gatemouth Brown, and Hank Thompson. But he is particularly proud of his Latino music. For the last 5 years  he has  toured and recorded with Mexican superstar Joan Sebastian and has contributed pedal steel chords to recordings by other popular Latin artists including Juanes, Vicente Fernandez, Jenni Rivera, Lucero,  La Santa Cecilia, Ulli and the Mexicans. Growing up, Vallejo felt drawn to music:  “I was the kid who every time I went to a friend’s house, if they had a piano, I would sit and noodle around on it.” Vallejo chose to master the violin for one very practical reason. “I picked it for its size, and I don’t regret that decision,” she says with a laugh. “I really enjoy being able to go almost anywhere with it. This resulted in her first release, an independently released, self-titled Jazz EP.  Nancy wrote two original jazz songs to go along with five classics on the EP. All-girl trio plays Mariachi for a new generationLa Victoria is an all-female Mariachi group, composed of Vaneza Marie Calderón, Mary Alfaro Velasco and Rosalie Rodriguez. The trio takes a very respectful contemporary approach to traditional Mariachi. They write music that engage audiences with the lively joy of traditional Mariachi but which is uniquely modern and uniquely theirs.  The band’s goal is to keep the traditional Mariachi songs alive while bringing in new, younger audiences. As part of this they have joined the musical protest movement My Song is a Weapon, started to combat racism by supergroup Prophets of Rage guitarist Tom Morello and singer Jackson Browne.  Their original song “Mi Hermano" , included on the compilation album Monster Protest Jamz, vol 1,  was designed to correct the false image of  Latino communities fostered during the election. Her collaborators include Andres Torres (La Santa Cecilia), multi-Grammy winners Sebastian Krys and Elsten Torres (Fulano), Marthin Chan and Lucho Tamblay (Volumen Cero), Huey Dunbar, Paulina Rubio, Frankie J and Los Rakas .Coming from a musical family in the Dominican Republic, Jey showed early interest and talent  in music.
