  • All about the Jazz Drummer with Mark Feldman

    in Music

Join Alan (Giants Of Jazz Radio) and Jose (Jazz Con Class Radio) in a conversation with Mark Feldman about the jazz drummer. We will cover the art of drumming and examine all the influencial jazz drummers from the past and also touch on current jazz drummers. We will learn more about Mark's drum school located in New York City and his personal experiences as a band member. We will talk about the role of a drummer and the difference between a "Human Drummer" and a Drum Machine. We will be playing music as examples to support all the different jazz drum techniques and touch on the how they influenced other genres. Listen in and/or call in with your questions.
    Bang! The Drum School:
BANG! is different.  Our environment is relaxed, not stressful , like some music schools.  Our teachers are very very good, but they check their egos at the door. We believe you should be able to hear your drum teacher before you decide to take lessons (check out our “LISTEN” section on this website).  We believe in intelligently focused hard work to achieve results.  We believe in non-judgemental, friendly learning with an emphasis on enjoying the process.  Drums are fun!
When it comes to drumming, you get back what you put in.  If you spend significant time practicing material that is selected and designed to meet your goals as a drummer, you will undoubtedly get better.
We love the drums and their history — did you know that the drum set is a purely American invention?  The study of drumming history reveals that all “the greats” have learned by studying those that preceeded them.  It is the most efficient way to learn.   From this notion comes  one of BANG’s favorite learning concepts…

Country by definition, but fueled by rock and roll and infected with a watermelon-sized helping of hope, love and salvation, Marshall’s the kind of guy you want to have on your side when the going gets tough in this world and his new album “One Of These Days” is set to be your alibi. Marshall Dane has been slowly bubbling up to this moment. With “Alcohol Abuse” now released to radio across Canada and the United States, 2014 promises to be the Year Of The Dane.

The Black Tibetans live to Rock and Rock to live. It’s as simple as that.  Formed in Los Angeles back in 2011, Dinst (guitar/ vocals), Tammi Tibetan (bass) and Ryan KH (drums) combine elements of old-school Rock N Roll, surf, and punk with their motorcycle-centric culture to create their own “Rock N Roll Party” sound.  Recently, the band teamed up with Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys for their latest EP, The Nashville Session. Recorded in Nashville, the record is the band’s 3rd release, following their 2011 self-titled debut album and a 7-inch EP, “It’s Me / Away” recorded in 2013 at Rancho de la Luna with Dave Catching (Eagles of Death Metal, Queens of the Stone Age).
