This Lady. THIS Lady. Let your show host catch her breath. Oleta Adams has meant MUCH to a LOT of fans and friends. We knew her from the 1990 release, "Circle of One." You may or may not know this - but "Get Here" was the unofficial anthem of the Gulf War. It made both Oleta and the writer, Brenda Russell, proud :)
The roots of this amazing vocalist, musician, composer and producer are solidly in the Church. Dad was a minister and little Oleta sang at Pilgrim Rest Baptist. The Pacific Northwest was our guest's upbringing - and she thrived there. By 11, Oleta was directing four choirs. She has already established herself as a piano prodigy. This was observed by more than a few. She had strong mentorship in junior high and became the star of "Hello Dolly" in her corner of the world. As Ms. Adams has said: "Early on, I realized the pleasures of being a big fish in a small pond."
The shorter version of a splendid novel: Oleta turned down a career in opera AND a scholarship. Instead, she opted for a Summer in Europe and a move to L.A. The early 70's, however, were not kind to those with Gospel-drenched power in their throats - it was the Disco Era. At the urging of a superb vocal coach and friend, Oleta moved to Kansas City and blossomed as she never imagined. A regular gig at the Hyatt Regency brought Legends to see her. Talk about a great reputation - this wonderful artist has that to spare :) If you could talk to Luther Vandross, he'd tell you. Phil Collins and Michael Bolton would say the same. And Roland Orzabal & Curt Smith more than any two people on earth. They saw Oleta one night in K.C. - and ALL of their lives changed. We'll talk about the Tears For Fears connection on 2/20/2017. I'M YOUR MAN: THE LIFE OF LEONARD COHEN
Sylvie Simmons follows Leonard Cohen's trail, via London and the Greek island of Hydra, to New York in the sixties, where he launched his music career.
From there she traces the arc of his prodigious achievements to his remarkable retreat in the mid-nineties-when on the cusp of marriage to a beautiful actress and enjoying the success of his best-selling album to date, he entered a monastery on a rocky mountaintop above Los Angeles-and finally to his reemergence for a sold-out world tour almost fifteen years later.
Whether navigating Cohen?s journeys through the back streets of Mumbai or the countless hotel rooms where he has stayed along the way, Simmons explores with equal focus every complex, contradictory strand of Cohen?s life-from the halls of academia to the arenas of rock ?n? roll-and presents a deeply insightful portrait of both the artist and the man whose vision, spirit, depth and talent continue to move people like no one else.

The LizyT show with singer Walt P
Walt Posey, a.k.a. Walt P tha Bad Guy spends his time in the studio channeling the lyrics in his music into a cycle of experiences that convey encouraging and thought provoking messages of inspiration, as he gears up for the release of his debut EP, What If Sonny Lived, Vol. 1. The album is a self-proclaimed memoir that chronicles his personal life of pain and sacrifice, through struggles and challenges - summed up simply - about Life!
Like the character in one of the most memorable novels in story-telling, the theme of What If Sonny Lived, Vol. 1 resembles an adaptation of the classic Godfather film, embodied in the spirit of the flick’s underboss, Sonny Corleone. Mirroring Sonny’s image, Walt P tha Bad Guy admits, “Like Sonny, I am my father’s eldest son, whose impulsive thinking has often let my temper over ride my judgment. Unlike Sonny, I survived my struggle and overcame pain as a result of vengeance and ferociousness.”
As evidenced on his single debut, “Motivated,” Walt P effortlessly bleeds into his music as he describes his will power to win and undertake his ambitions to become his own boss and make his own money.
