In his article, Stay Away From These Four Types of Toxic People: Choose the Company You Keep
, Guy Finley has two very profound statments. The first is "Those with whom we assemble, we soon resemble!" He also says "Who we are - our very essence - is continually being transformed by the company we keep."
How many times have you felt down and depressed after a conversation filled with negativity? How many dreams have you given up on because of someone toxic person feeding you with negativity? How often have you walked away from angry after a conversation with someone who had nothing good or positive to say? How many times have you suddenly gone from being happy and cheerful to being down and depressed because of one single thought that crossed your mind?
"Everyone who walks through a door brings joy. Some by entering. Some by leaving." This saying rings true on so many levels. If there's any truth to this saying, why do we continue to allow toxic people to invade our lives and walk away with our joy and peace? Why do we continue to allow these people to fill our lives with such toxicity? How do these people really effect our lives? More importantly, how do we decontaminate and get rid of these people?
