FEAR of our past. Maybe of the pain it causes us, fear people will use it against us. fear we will never move on from it, and etc. I think these things hinder us from forgiving ourselves so we can move on. It keeps us shameful, secretive, and unable to receive help we need to move forward.

There is all the talk about forgiving others which is amazing and necessary, but what about forgiving ourselves? Maybe we have done things in our past that have not been so pleasant to think back on. There are things some of us are downright ashamed of and wouldn't dare share to the world. This is a constant struggle especially for people with a dark past in a world full of judgement that doesn't stand in love where no record of wrongs are kept.

I have been through a lot of things that I could have avoided or put a halt to. I believe that is where forgiveness of self is the hardest when you know you could have stopped it. Nevertheless, what are you gonna do about who you were? Nothing you can do, so how do we go about forgiving ourselves and allowing healing? Reaching that place where you truly believe you can be transformed with the renewing of your mind and heart.
