Mrs. Maryland Earth 2010
United States, English
After being sexually violated by the community pastor and family member starting at 14, her internal battles with suicide, low self-esteem and depression began. Facing a seemingly lifetime of emotional scars she left home at the age of 16 to reside with her father. She finally broke her silence four years later, only to find sorrow again after her mother’s disbelief of her story. Even though her abuser is still a pastor to this day, she has maintained a desire to use herself as an example, encouraging others of how God will forge a person’s tumultuous past to be a successful presentation of overcoming in their adult life. LaQuisha now is harvesting the energies of her community, giving voices to women across the age spectrum about their right to be victorious against unwarranted shame. Mrs. Hall currently carries the banner title of Mrs. Maryland Earth 2010, in preparation for the Mrs. Earth International pageant in August 2010. Her platform, Stop the Silence! Sexual Abuse Education & Support, presents a two-pronged approach—educating the public about the realities of sexual abuse and encouraging survivors along the recovery process. Her work is in tandem with other organizations: Dreamcatchers for Abused Children, Turn Around, Inc., the Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network (RAINN), the Maryland Coalition Against Sexual Assault and Stop the Silence, the latter which she represents as their International Spokesperson and a board member. Additionally, she has founded a program under Stop the Silence, Queendom T.E.A, a mentorship for teenage girls in Maryland that cultivates their understanding on feminine etiquette and counsels their need to properly deal with their concerns on sexual issues.
