The Mosaic of Art radio show explores the making and distribution of visual art by talking with artists, curators, webmasters, dealers, coaches, publishers, about their creative processes. We go into their studios, offices and galleries, but also into their minds, their memories, travels and stories. The show is for anyone who’s interested in learning how imagination is cultivated and fed and how it translates itself into tangible objects. We talk with creative people around the world who are involved with the plastic arts; we showcase their work – using the visual tools of the internet – and learn what motivates them. We talk about big themes – identity, memory, spirituality, etc. – but also about technical issues in an artist’s working life: tools and materials, organizing a studio, dealing with the business of making a living. Why “The MOSAIC OF ART?” A mosaic is a pattern or picture that’s made of hundreds or thousands of small units – whether glass, ceramic, stone or some other material – that are organized and assembled coherently. In a comparable way, we find artists and other players in the art/design world working with different ideas and materials, but – looked at collectively – sharing in an enterprise we can call ART. This show will give voice to the individuals and also look into the ideas and themes they share.

The inaugural show on Friday, January 1 will feature recorded interviews with exhibitors, collectors, audience members, organizers and aspiring artists who attended the great Art Basel Miami Beach and its related exhibitions in early December. The show MAY be entirely "canned" but the chat room will be open. After that inaugural show on Friday, the show will move to SUNDAY afternoons from 3 to 4pm EST, where I will try to include some time for call-ins.
