Staying on financial track isn’t easy, even in the best of circumstances.  This month we’ve addressed the rising costs of college tuition and the financial struggles many families are experiencing as they try and get their kids through college, and we’ve talked about how the economy has impacted retirement planning – and delayed retirement for many, and we’ve uncovered the truth behind spending addictions.

In the June 26 episode, Your Money. Your Matters will continue our frank discussion on helping consumers get honest about their financial situation.  We’ll talk about the importance of planning for the unexpected and taking responsibility for the financial decisions you make.  We will also welcome special guest Walt Henderson, director of Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) Strategy Division at the U.S. Department of the Treasury.  Henderson will talk about the Treasury’s Go Direct campaign.  The Treasury announced in December that all federal benefit and non-tax payments will be paid electronically by March, 1, 2013. This change will impact people who are about to apply for federal benefits (like Social Security retirement) and the more than 10 million people who are already receiving benefits by paper check.

TCUL’s Your Money. Your Matters is a weekly show broadcasting every Tuesday from 11 a.m. to noon Central Time. The program features radio personalities Rick Grady and Linda Webb-Manon, Texas Credit Union League; Todd Mark, Consumer Credit Counseling Services, and Courtney Moran, Texas Credit Union Foundation. Each month, the four discuss financial issues of most importance to consumers.
