Your Money. Your Matters is a weekly show broadcasting every Tuesday from 11 a.m. to noon CST. The program features radio personalities Rick Grady and Linda Webb-Manon, Texas Credit Union League; Todd Mark, Consumer Credit Counseling Services, and Courtney Nickles, Texas Credit Union Foundation.
Each month, the four discuss financial issues of most importance to consumers. Today’s episode focuses on choosing the right financial institution – one that will help you achieve your financial goals and objectives. It’s no secret that consumers are fed up with corporate greed, and recent announcements by the larger for-profit banks of their intent to raise fees have not settled well with bank customers. In fact, a just released survey by the Research Intelligence Group finds that about 30 percent of U.S. consumers will leave their banks over fees for using their debit cards. But where will they go? Some have already closed their bank accounts and moved their money to credit unions.
TCUL’s Your Money. Your Matters welcomes special guest George Hofheimer, chief research officer at the Filene Research Institute to discuss why the cooperative self-help model is so appealing to millions of consumers, and how Bank Transfer Day, which gains more momentum every single day, is motivating thousands of consumers to take a second look at credit unions.
