DVD sales - which have driven the whole movie industry for the last decade - are down the toilet. A digital revolution in past years has gradually unlocked movies and television shows from their traditional formats. Many people have already become accustomed to the idea of owning a purely online product, such as a digital copy of a video game through Valve's Steam service or an ebook like Barnes & Noble's e-reader, for one, allowing book readers to access their books using any device with the B&N application installed. But now a wider mass of consumers can get ready to say goodbye to those DVD box sets, and greet a more ethereal type of cloud ownership. [via Wall Street Journal] The "Monday Night at the Movies" radio show features: (1) Jarrod Austin, Filmmaker, Chad Zemel, Young Urban Mediamakers Ambassador, Rick Fly "All The Way Live," spoken word artist, and Taranji Alvarado, Musician, Artist, Filmmaker; (2) call-in, online chat, and online audience participation; (3) Urban Mediamakers Association and Film Festival news; (4) movie reviews; (5) film, television and mediamaking news; (6) jobs/productions news; and (7) independent talent spotlights and more. Hosted by Cheryle Reynolds (producer, script supervisor, writer).
