Last year, a ballot proposition calling for labels of genetically modified food was overwhelmingly popular with California voters. It wound up being narrowly defeated, thanks to a tremendous outpour of money from the Big Food companies.

That was round one. Round two is taking place now in Washington State, where 350,000 residents signed a petition to get a GMO labeling initiative on the November ballot. Will they win -- or be bulldozed once again by companies that would rather keep you in the dark?

Our guest this week is Leah Segedie, who leads the online health community, Mamavation. Leah is one of the social media professionals organizing a public awareness campaign to combat the big bucks lobbying of the food industry on this issue.

Weekly political discussion from the progressive POV, hosted by the MOMocrats. Produced by Engender Media Group.
