The lotus flower is an important symbol in Buddhism. It begins its journey deep within the darkness of the muddy waters of suffering, and despite the conditions it finds itself in, chooses to grow toward enlightenment. Untouched by the impurity of the muck, lotus symbolizes rebirth and purity of heart and mind as it blossoms into a beautiful fragrant flower. The gorgeous bloom of a lotus is between eight to twelve inches in diameter, yet the open beauty of this flower lasts for just three days. Then each petal falls silently into the water reflecting the impermanence of all things.
There is so much more symbolism to share about this beautiful flower. Join Reverend Reckel Ferguson as she takes us on the journey of the lotus flower searching for rebirth in our life.
