Born in East Germany in 1938, she was just six years old when the war and its fallout struck her and her family. She shares the story of how she survived the miseries of war with the cruel Russian occupation of her homeland, and the trauma of an unsettled life. Her mother with five young children between 1 ½ and 12, had to live with scant food, no shelter and danger. In 1946 they were evicted from their homeland and distributed in West Germany.
